ABOUT

Project (“Never Met a Molly”) is looking for a lead vocalist (and some other musicians) to work out cover songs (with our own twist) from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s-2020s … and eventually original music as well. Genres can vary a bit but more focused on pop music with interesting energetic grooves. Currently we have keyboards and bass. The ideal group would be a lead singer, keys, guitar(s), bass and drums, percussion. Background vocals will be important. Other instruments may also be considered.

Have a rough starting list of songs already (though not limited) that require mostly a higher male voice or female vocalist. Looking to develop a band (project) that will record (audio/video) for YouTube, do occasional gigs, private fun parties, and even willing to self-finance concert venues. Practices will be scheduled rather than a set day each week. The idea is that each person in the project will be provided ample resources (midi backing files, backing mp3s, cd’s, charts, links, etc.) to practice and work out parts and ideas on their own. When we all get together, we will be on the same page, knowing the music, and just enjoy working out the fine details rather than figuring everything out during the rehearsals. Vocal/background vocal rehearsal will also be a part of many get-togethers.

It will be a situation where we are not always relying on every individual’s attendance to the rehearsals when we have them. If someone absolutely can’t make it, there will be sufficient backing tracks to still get together and enjoy performing together. Your parts will eventually be recorded as tracks for other musicians to rehearse with. This is an ideal situation for musicians that enjoy performing as a group, but are not necessarily looking to join a weekly gigging band.

Due to a more intricate keyboard setup, most of the rehearsals will take place in our finished basement in a safe home neighborhood (with driveway parking) in Nashua, NH. Microphones are available for vocalists and mixer stereo/mono inputs for instrumentalists. You may also bring your own equipment as well. Looking for serious, normal, fun, good musicians to enjoy performing together. We have cats (hence the name “Molly”), but most people with allergies to cats are not bothered based on prior experience.

Musicianship is a must. You should have funk/rock/pop/some jazz skills and knowledge. Sight reading not required, however helpful if you can read and understand music notation for learning purposes. It will be an enjoyable atmosphere, developing friendship and camaraderie. Any age range is fine, just not interested in individuals that are caught up in drugs, etc. Making music is the focus, rather than making money. Paying gigs will be nice, but this project is a better fit for individuals not relying on music to finance their situation, that want to work towards creating an impressive performance.
