There are a number of musicians on Bandmix who have been looking for bands for a long time. Maybe this is our opportunity to get off the endless search to nowhere.
Building a new band piece by piece and relatively quickly should get us going quickly. First, I am starting with guitars. It may be a pipedream, but I would like to have a band together by the end of the year. It can be done!
I am looking to play covers; 50s-80s music that stands the test of time. No Disco, Techno-Pop, etc. Other than that, I am open minded. The target audience is 45+.
Danceable music that was be played on WZLX and other oldies stations back in the day is probably the most fun to play. Each bandmate would have full input into the material performed. I have one guitarist/vocalist on board.
My goal is to find competent musicians who can sing 8 - 12 songs each over the course of a four-hour gig. I would like to try to avoid the same old songs that every other old man band does (867-5309, Brown Eyed Girl, etc.).
I would like to gig once or twice a month, trying to avoid the extreme late nights.
