ABOUT

Nigel M. Fairchild: singer, bassist, synthesizer enthusiast. I played bass and co-wrote some cool stuff in local, original band The Pleasure Victims. Way back in the day, I fronted a few different New Wave review bands. I’ve been a bass player, a lead singer and a keyboardist. Some Interesting things that have been said directly to me:
You’re not from around these parts, are you?
You sound just like the record.
You don’t play like any other bassist in this valley.
You’ve got moves.
Ok, that’s cool... thanks!
I’m into doing originals, yes, or a proper tribute of a worthy act. I’m not into the variety cover band thing, or a
New Wave review again, as there are already some really good and really bad ones out there. I’m a pretty good bass player with some good quality gear. I can also find cool sounds, have some cool synths and can find my way around the keyboard, but am no trained pianist. I’m a tenor and I can sing and have had some proper training, back in the day. What ever I lack in talent, I make up for in charm, charisma and energy. :) I’ve also made great contacts and booked a lot of shows. I have a job and although my daughters are grown, I don’t want to tour. I’ll play out of town gigs once in a while, sure. LA, Malibu, Santa Barbara or San Diego? Yes please and thank you!

First Wave, New Wave, Dark Wave, Second Wave, Indie, Shoe Gaze, Post Punk, Dream Pop, Early Alternative, Synth Pop, Electronica.

Specific artists & bands: Depeche Mode, The Cure, Gary Numan, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, OMD, Thompson Twins, Human League, Ladytron, The Alarm, Simple Minds, Plimsouls, Felony, Rave-Ups, Split Enz, The Bravery, She Wants Revenge, INXS, Duran Duran, Smiths, Talk Talk, Love & Rockets, Ocean Blue, Berlin, Missing Persons and the band that I’ve actually done a proper tribute to... A Flock of Seagulls. Yes, music fans... it’s true. Will I do a tribute again? Maybe. I’d play synth in a proper tribute to The Cure, if you know a great Robert Smith to my Roger O’Donnell. Or if you know a guy who can do Numan like Numan, when do we start?
