New Kind of Army began making music in the summer of 2003 with founding members Shane Treagesser (guitar, vocals), Jon Hodge (guitar), David O’Dell (bass) and Jesse Ringgold (drums). N.K.A started playing small shows here and there around their local area until they entered a battle of the bands, in which they won and opened for Seventh Day Slumber. They then began writing new material and soon entered the studio to record their five song e.p. “On Fire”. In March of 2005 ,the band’s lineup would change, with the adding of second guitarist, Bryan Gaches, and moving Shane to vocals. N.K.A. then began pushing their cd even more, hitting the road and sharing the stage with national acts such as: KJ-52, Ever Stays Red, Liptocoal, The Chemistry, Krystal Meyers, Day of Fire, Radial Angel, Philmore, Jonah 33, and Disciple. The band will also be featured in the nationally publicized HM Magazine. New Kind of Army's music can be summed up like this, melodic and aggressive. "Its really a mixture of both, like hard hitting music and vocals in some songs, and a little more melodic at times ." says frontman Shane Treagesser. "The biggest point is to get our message across clearly so people can see what we are about, we are not "preachy" from stage by any means, but we want people to focus in and get the message we offer, not to shove it down their throats.” adds bassist David O'Dell. "We want people who listen, to find God and experience him for themselves...its what a personal relationship is all about. We also want to give Christians something to listen to that can be uplifting and help them out wherever they might be." says guitarist Jon Hodge. New Kind of Army brings to the stage a refreshing originality and keen sense of style not found in many bands of their genre, while still proclaiming the message of Christ
