Looking for musicians who want to play for the sheer enjoyment that comes from the creative give and take of interacting with other accomplished players. Players who know their instrument, know how to listen, have a good sense of timing, know when to stay out of the way and provide support, and who can step up with feeling and interesting phrasing when it's their time. Players who understand that sometimes a song may require that you just stop playing for a while. Players who inspire others to push their creative limits.
I enjoy working up intricate harmonies, helping to make others sound good, and always learning something new. I love finding those moments when a few notes say so much more than lots of notes (Duane's slow interlude in the middle of Mountain Jam - gives me chills..), nailing down a groove and staying in it (Bonnie Raitt's Tangled and Dark), strong and tight vocals (CSN&Y Carry On), creating interesting sound textures (Knopfler's Brothers in Arms) and extended jams that get out there and come back together (Phil Lesh & Friends).
I've been playing for more than 40 years, some of that time professionally. I've been playing mostly acoustic the past decade and I'm ready to get the electrics out and make bigger sounds, although I love mixing acoustic and electric instruments. Looking for drummer (maybe percussion too?), bass, keyboards, other guitarist or multi-instrumentalists. I don't age discriminate (younger players welcome ~) and hope you don't either. This is music people! We're all in it together. I take my music seriously but I'm not obsessed - it's art - and ought to be fun.
