ABOUT

I owe my love for the 60’s and 70’s music to my mother. When we would take car trips, she would always tune the radio to the rock stations and I grew up on a lot of the music my last 2 bands played. Dad taught me to appreciate Gilbert and Sullivan, The Nut Cracker Suite and other more conservative music. I had the pleasure of watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and was really irritated by the screaming girls because I could not hear the music.
My youthful music training was provided by grade school music appreciation. We learned notes and scales. Who remembers Every Good Boy Does Fine? Or Dirty FACE Girl? I also took guitar lessons for about 7 weeks. Then the teacher started on Country Western and I found girls, so thus went my music lessons. I did approach my high school music teacher about playing the bass. He showed me an upright, tossed me a book, and disappeared. Thus that did not work out. Since then, I have played air bass with every major rock band around.
Then, at 55 years old, I bought a beginner bass and some lessons. I studied for 4 years with the bass player from Ratt, Banjo Loco and JRZ Project. One night, a friend from church invited me to his band’s practice, which was after a lesson. At the end, he invited me to plug in. I played one song with them, but the bug had bitten. I REALLY had to do this again!! I was in my first band within a year and a half, playing mostly 80’s and 90’s. My second band taught me that I am not a blues man. I can play them, but my heart is not into it. My next band was a classic rock group. We played together for a year and got out of the attic twice. Then we took the best of the musicians to form the core of my last band.
