I play bass guitar and have an affinity for Classic Prog Rock of the 1970’s (Yes, Kansas, pre-pop Genesis, ELP, Pink Floyd, Rush, early Styx, Starcastle, Triumvirat, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Supertramp, Jethro Tull, etc.) as well as some experimental & proggy music from around that era (Doors, Asia, Led Zep, Moody Blues, late-era Beatles, Hendrix). I also love hard rock & heavy blues from that era (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Cream, pre-pop Queen, The Who).
I am 60, a retired finance professional. I have been playing for 40+ years & have plenty of classic rock & originals recording & gigging experience. I read music (bass clef), have studied theory, work with multitrack recording (Sonar), and work extensively with midi sequencing. I have good equipment, a PA & a pickup truck. I am free to travel.
I should not claim that I sing. But I have an ambitious goal to learn, even if just as backup “oohs” & “ahhhs”, and I am making progress.
The audio link are recordings of my bass work with my recent band, The DarDans in Houston. These are original compositions. We played classic rock, and made 3 CD’s of our own originals.
Our classic rock covers included Beatles, Rolling Stones, Clapton, CCR, Elvis Costello, Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, Led Zep, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, John Mellencamp, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, REM, Rush, U2, SRV, Stevie Wonder, James Brown.
