ABOUT

We're really, really easy going. Like seriously unserious, taking our time to do it right and very talented - relaxed and playing when we can around our lives. For drumming reference, check out Opal Candy on spotify web browser (maybe the app but depends on subscription I think), orange sun colored album, start with the song "Fluid". s://open.spotify/album/6VbiAc0YQCCy0LX2NezXkQ All my drumming can be found on that album.

Tier 1 drummer, T1 guitarist (catapultic on bmix) and T1 bassist (jayof9 on bmix) looking for casual but super talented T1, mature and easy going singer/ vocalist and keyboard, maybe 2nd guitarist, to complete the line up for originals and maybe play a few covers if we feel like it. Mainly write our own as we have a bajillion ideas on standby. We have careers, not looking to make a living. This is a casual, for-fun project, one or two practices a week, maybe a show a month or quarterly down the road.

Very specific references: Baseline sounds, tonality of guitars/vox/keys, context, layering, melodies would be from the hard side of:

Don Broco - "The Blues" or w/e
Glassjaw - "ape dos mil", "jesus glue" or "you think you're john lennon"
Morning for the Masses - "beginnings" or "Cacoon"
As I watch you from afar - "Dying Giants" or "Three Triangles"
Fishbone - "sunless saturday" or "Fight the Youth"
Afghan Whigs - "Gentlemen" or "Debonair" etc etc

....All the way down to the soft side of:

Mayer Hawthorne - "her favorite song" or "the walk"
Jamiroquai - "virtual Insanity" or "Little L"
The Cure - "Doing the unstuck" or "Burn" / others too
Dave Matthews - "Ants Marching" or "#41"
Eric Johnson - "Cliffs of Dover" etc etc

...and any similar / substitutes of exotic / edgy / melodic type stuff with our own twist put on it. Every song we write will be interesting, sophisticated, clean, have some pro chops (not overboard, song quality first and what fits the music correctly... not doing animals as leaders here, for example) and have several components of different styles incorporated into each song meaning dif tones/textures throughout the songs. We're in process putting together some very unique, upbeat, interesting and high caliber, chop-oriented, catchy music. Not playing any metal, folk, bluegrass, southern rock (seether / 3 doors down stuff..../snore), country or gospel. Maybe a little of each feel to a song or two but not writing solely in those given veins.

If your tone and skills sound like: guitar - Eric Johnson / morning for the masses / the cure / Justin Beck (glassjaw)... and vox taking back sunday / the cure / morning for the masses / jeff buckley... and keys eldar djangirov / chick corea (not that crazy talented but some creativeness would be cool) / the cure / depeche mode or tears for fears etc would be ideal.

We have a garage rehearsal space on Alpha and Montfort. Not interested in gigging out much, maybe once / twice a month at most but that really depends on the gig/time/our careers etc. Just a good hobby project for now preferably and will record for free with our own equipment. We're really easy going goofy, chill dudes but know what we want specifically in a guitarist(s) / keyboard / vox. If interested, contact jmiller0128 at . com or here.

Influences

For Drumming - Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Matt Garstka etc.. ton of others

Music ranges from many angles. Favorite is Glassjaw. Mix in some of The Cure, Morning for the Masses, And So I Watch You From Afar, Don Broco, Zeppelin, Eric Johnson, Maroon 5, At the Drive in, The Memorials (Delirium), Mayer Hawthorne, Sade, Afghan Wigs (gentlemen etc), Fishbone (sunless saturday / fight the youth), some dubstep/lounge/funk grooves, Dave Weckl band / Chick Corea, older Tool (aenima) and blend it up into our own. Good solid grooves, technical fills/soloing but tastefully limited etc.
