Drums.ABOUT
The Outlaw Psychedelic Roadhouse Band needs bass and keys. We are starting a unique classic rock (with blues, country, bluegrass, folk etc. influences) band. We're doing mostly covers but are also developing originals. Must be very familiar with and love the Grateful Dead and the Rolling Stones-- among many others -- but if you've got those down, we'll know you are on the same page we are. We plan to start gigging soon after we get a drummer.
We are not a tribute band, but the bands mentioned above capture the kind of blues-based, boogie-rock, ecstatic, hypnotic, jammin,' outlaw sensibility that is going to win the hearts and minds of our audiences and make us something powerful and different. Our set lists feature a number of familiar tunes to ensure audience interest and marketability but emphasize more sophisticated "deep cuts" to make it interesting and to distinguish us from every other classic rock cover band out there slogging their way through "Stairway To Heaven" and "Freebird". Instead of "Truckin" and "Start Me Up," we're going to emphasize songs like "Candyman" and "Sweet Virginia."
The ideal candidate will be first and foremost an outstanding musician. Also looking for intellectually interested, edgy dudes who read the occasional book and maybe know a thing or two about art and philosophy. Extra points if you have read On The Road, Dharma Bums, Naked Lunch, or Gravity's Rainbow. No drug addicts or serious alcoholics please. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, or country of national origin. Hippies who play kickass bass and keys encouraged to apply. Serious inquiries only please
