Electric/upright bassist looking for band, small combo, conceptual projects, or extrovert genius instrumentalist/vocalist who wants to play live a few times a month, with day jobs, and who can (and wants to) get down to business and play live soon.
Recently moved back to Arizona. 35 years of playing and performing wide variety of musical styles including surf, rockabilly, Stax/Motown soul, garage, pop arrangements for big band, French '30s swing jazz, and (a few months ago) a "Ziggy-era" Bowie live tribute. I am mainly a guitarist but have played bass for years at a time over past 30+ years. Bass is currently my main mode of expression and utility these days.
As a bassist I am adaptable, a quick study, a good songwriting/arranging collaborator, a problem solver, and will always show up on the "1". I have about an 8th or 9th grade level music theory knowledge; the rest comes from good ears, good memory and musical promiscuity.
Other musical genres I would add if BandMix allowed me to pick more than 4: 70s German rock, Afrobeat, R&B, 30s Paris swing jazz, celtic, and anything from Jamaica
Full disclosure here: I have 3 kids every two weeks, which impacts my schedule during the time I have them. Would never interfere with gigs but may impact # of weekly practice nights.

EQUIPMENT
Main electric bass rig is a Custom Shop '64 J into a Fender Pro 400 head. Generally no processing except compression. I play 4, repeat 4 strings. If you're looking for a 5 string bassist, I'm not your guy.
Engelhardt Swing Bass.
I also have a theremin, a rack of Lee Oskar diatonic harps, and a plethora of guitar equipment for use by other musicians as needed/wanted.
