ABOUT

We are Oxymoron, a 3 piece music group from Pinckney, MI. We don't really have much of a genre related sound I would say, so lets just say Indie. We kind of combine a lot of our influences and make it work, and I think it sounds really awesome. We have a lead guitarist/songwriter (me), a drummer, and a female vocalist/songwriter/acoustic guitarist. We are looking for a bassist the most, but it would also be cool if we had a good male vocalist as well, and maybe someone that can play keyboards, but not totally decided on that yet.

Influences

We have a wide range of influences. We all seem to be into some level of alternative rock/grunge. Our singer has mainly a sort of pop influence, the drummer is a metal head, and listens to a good amount of pop punk, and I myself, have a big classic rock influence on my playing style. As a whole, our sound brings a sort of indie sort of thing, that's kind of hard to describe, but I really like what we are doing.

Members Of Band

Nicole D.- Nicole has played a lot of gigs in the past solo, sharing her songs at small local gigs and open mics. She has a VERY good singing voice and is okay at the guitar. She is mainly the backbone of the band so far.
Michael P.- Michael is a drummer with a lot of metal/pop punk influence, but is a VERY versatile drummer to say the least. He has some experience in the past playing small gigs and stuff of that sort.
Derian P. (me)- I play lead guitar, with a kind of blues inspired playing style I guess, but am trying to expand my 'stylistic horizons' I guess, haha. I have not been playing for very long, but I practice for hours a day non stop for a year and a half, and I have got some mastery of lead playing in general. I also am experimenting with writing and introducing songs to the band.

EQUIPMENT

Some ghetto recording equipment setup, not professional at all. We are broke upperclassman in high school, and we haven't needed to buy a bunch of fancy equipment quite yet, but we are trying to get a demo tape together so we can pass them out to people that are interested in us at gigs.
