One of the finest percussionist for over 20 years in Philadelphia, Papo Mercado is a Bongo & Conga player of Salsa & Latin Jazz music and his playing talents fuses the rhythm of his Puerto Rican heritage. At the age of 10 years he learned to play his first instrument the Conga in Puerto Rico. Papo moved to Philadelphia and in the 1980 his professional career as a percussionist took off playing and working with local bands & musicians including Minnie Villanueva, Pablo Batista, Papo Vazquez, Humberto Alicea, Ray Colon, Pupi Legarreta, Elio Villafranca, Foto Rodriguez, Ricky Soto, Al Aguilera & Juan Cuco Castellanos.
