SEEKINGDrums, Other Percussion.
Paranoid Image is an exciting band created by Christopher Malone and Sara Geller. Based out of Denver, Colorado, this new band has drawn from its alternative / Industrial roots to create a fun, dance and musicality-focused infusion of driving percussion with almost all acoustic instrumentation.
The Paranoid Image idea came from their interest in South American dance such as samba, bachata, zouk, tango and others and their desire to create music both for the alternative and Industrial communities and the South American dance community.
As members of Scifidelic, they contributed to bringing a more dance-driven spin on the songs created and arranged by Caustic (lead singer of Scifidelic).
As these original songs are created and released (including several songs contributed by Caustic and re-created by Paranoid Image), we hope the rhythms which will include a combination of hand drums, drums and electronic drums, driving bass lines, gorgeous instrumentation, and vocals sung in a way that is stunning and unforgettable, will be enjoyed by listeners and danced to by the dancers who have inspired this hybrid genre!

Burning Paint Ballad
Burning Paint BalladAt rehearsal, Percussionist Al Buffone III said "'Burning Paint' is so cool... I bet a slow version would be dope!" We tried it, loved it, and here it is: the other version of the song from which the album takes its name. Includes Christopher Malone picking and bowing on upright bass and a beautiful acoustic guitar solo by Jim Vaughan.
Burning PaintPI Singer Sara Geller had this strange dream in which she was painting a picture and decided to burn the edges of the painting. "A little for effect", as the song says. Unfortunately, the painting went up in flames. But it was only a dream and it resulted in a poem. Christopher set it to music, and there it is - the album's namesake song.
Guitar JamWhat? Paranoid Image, but not all acoustic instruments? Well, blame that on Elizabeth Nelles! Not long after joining PI, she bought this cool amp and started experimenting with it. The result, a song that is full of cool sounds, layered voice, great PI-style rhythm, and even some backwards guitar and voice masking! "No one's ever talked back to me like that!"
18/19Lauren Savelle wrote this song on the 18th and recorded the sample on her mandolin on the 19th. Then a little bit after that, she played it for some of the band. Christopher Malone suggested the Bossa Nova rhythm and the music took a life of its own - PI-style, including a cool solo featuring our percussionists in the middle!
Ukrainian LullabyOne of PI's most heartfelt songs was inspired by Lauren Savelle's personal experience, resulting in this beautiful song. Sad that the Ukrainian guy left, but fortunate for PI and anyone who loves touching music. Thunderous timpani-sounding floor toms, a catchy rhythm, and the almost tearful mandolin make this song very unique.
Safest PlaceIt's disco! Once again, PI strayed from our all-acoustic instrumentation and added some funky electric guitar and the rare use of a high-hat to make this song rock (however, still no drum set - check out the percussion!). This song is about pianist Christopher's and vocalist Sara's relationship. Get up and dance! Seriously. Get up. Dance.
I'm Gonna Keep Your Heart
I'm Gonna Keep Your HeartParanoid Image released their cover of TV on the Radio's "Keep Your Heart" in January 2018. On their album "Burning Paint", they released an even better version of their acoustic tango-like rendering of this beautiful song.
BrokenOriginally recorded by Paranoid Image's singer Sara Geller for Scifidelic, Christopher Malone (also of Scifidelic) arranged the song as an acoustic Bachata song for Paranoid Image. Get up and dance - Bachata-style!
HomeSometimes, it's not easy to go home. Elizabeth wrote about how it "doesn't feel like home anymore" in her poetic, direct and powerful style. She composed the song and worked on the melody with singer Sara Geller to create one of PI's most driving, intense and popular songs. On the "Burning Paint" album.
Faded MemoriesFaded Memories is a song composed by Christopher Malone with lyrics by Elizabeth Nelles. This almost orchestral song and the idea behind the melody/singing was written by Christopher sort of out of nowhere. Fortunately, Elizabeth had great lyrics that could be applied to this very song. Features a very cool rhythm / string solo in the middle with guitar, mandolin and banjo. Found on our new "Burning Paint" album.
Keep Your Heart
Keep Your HeartInspired by the lyrics and beauty of TVOTR's "Keep Your Heart", Paranoid Image's version features hand percussion (djembe and congas), piano, mandolin and a gorgeous, melodic vocal interpretation. (Make sure you check out the NEW release called "I'm Gonna Keep Your Heart", found on our new "Burning Paint" album - even better!
