ABOUT
Former professional musician enjoying a return to a more active music life - writing, recording, gigging - after wrapping up a successful career outside of music.
My regular band, Outer Park, is geographically dispersed, so we gather and record infrequently.
I'm interested and experienced in a wide variety of music, but at this point the most fun would be 1) playing electric guitar in an adventuresome or jazzy rock band, 2) playing acoustic guitar to accompany a singer-songwriter, or 3) playing an assortment of instruments in a faux-folk band (in the mold of Pentangle or Fairport Convention).
I also write, both lyrics and music, although my favorite songwriting is putting others' words to music.

Influences
Wide variety. Acoustic, electric, eclectic.
My guitar work is inspired by Garcia-Kaukonen-Cippolina-Santana. No, wait. I mean Metheny-Scofield-McLaughlin. Make that Renbourn-Jansch-Cockburn-Kottke-Thompson. Or possibly White-Rice-Smither-Whitley. Hackett-Lake-Howe? I'm an eclectic mess.
I can play along with most anything, help with composition and arrangements, supply background vocals.

EQUIPMENT
Primarily guitars (electric, steel- and nylon-stringed acoustic); also electric bass, harp guitar, stage amps, microphones, wide assortment of stomp boxes. Own a banjo and a mandolin; wouldn't say I play them with any finesse, but I can make the right notes come out at appropriate times.
Also have a home studio for demos and workshop-ing new songs.
