ABOUT

I received my first drum-set at age 5 and have been drumming-on ever since, adding many types of percussion instruments to my stick-bag.

I’ve played Contemporary Christian, Rock/Pop, Classic Rock, Country, Jazz, Reggae, R&B and Blues, yet I have the interest to reach out to many other types of music as well. Also have studio and live performance experience.

My approach to music is as a musician who has training in theory and composition, combining it with my engineering background, meaning that I study each song and build my percussion grooves and fills to complement the music to the fullest of my abilities, putting a lot of time, thought and energy into each piece.

My personality is easy going with a strong sense of commitment & drive. Definitely not into drama, unprofessionalism or egos. I appreciate music, love playing, and have a lot of fun while working hard towards improving my craft.

The music I added was recorded using MultiTrack studio, with a Backing Track mix of the song "Blue On Black" by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, omitting the studio drums and adding my drum track to the recording.

If my bio is of interest, I would appreciate your contact.

Thanks so much,
Colby (Paul)

EQUIPMENT

Alesis DM10 MKII Pro with DW 9002 double kick pedal: A professional 10 piece digital set with dual-zone mesh heads (ultra quiet acoustically) and a pedal system used by many professional drummers (Carter Beauford of Dave Matthews Band for example). The Brain has 80 individual drum sets and more than 700 percussion sounds, providing a significant range of available sound options. My profile image is a stock photo of the kit.

I have a lot of experience on both electronic (Alesis & Roland digital sets) and acoustic drums. I prefer the Digital, as it provides greater control (volume, multiple sets & sounds, etc.), as well as greater sound clarity with the direct input connections, and mostly because of the significant percussion options available via the brain module & MIDI capability.
