ABOUT

I am an advanced-beginner blues/rock lapsteel player (open E7) and country-style pedal steel player (E9).

On lap steel guitar I can play Love In Vain by The Rolling Stones (Get Your Ya-ya's Out version), John Hiatt Ain't Goin Back, Lynyrd Skynyrd Mr. Banker and Same Old Blues, Son Volt's Ten Second News, and an instrumental version of Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks.

On Pedal Steel I can play Son Volt tunes including Creosote, Windfall, Tear-stained Eye, and Left a Slide, and Robert Earl Keen tunes I'll Be There, Snowing on Raton and These Years. Also on PSG, John Prine's Flag Decal, Grateful Dead's Dire Wolf , Tift Merritt's Feeling of Beauty, Ryan Adams Dancing with the Women, and Drive By Truckers Mama Bake a Pie.

I am open to both playing with folks individually or as part of a group. I am ready to COMMIT to weekly band practice, more when necessary.

My technique/attack is fairly good (intermediate) and my speed is developing. I can figure out most steel/bottle-neck slide parts from recordings and play them competently. My ability to improvise is developing slowly (beginning to learn how/when to apply my practiced licks to different chord progressions, etc. )

I also play flute a bit but don't currently own one.
