The concept of “Zetwal Kreyòl” is a very original one: that's a vocal band.
In 2013 I decided to enlarge my musical experience to such a style because never before has a Haitian musician introduced this type of musical group, especially not in the Haitian Roots genre. At the musical level, some features of the concept behind“Zetwal Kreyòl” comprise: exploring a variety of rhythms from Haitian folklore and voodoo culture, a full sound of six harmonies and having voices produce 80% of all sounds.
As an artist I am always motivated to strive for a place of excellence and uniqueness within America's cultural diversity and beyond. I am also determined to promoting the Haitian culture in several aspects. Other goals of mine include inspiring all Haitians, especially the young Haitians who have emigrated to the US, to realize the richness of and preserving their culture, offer them opportunities to contribute to keeping this culture alive strongly, and finally making our culture known to other ethnic groups in the USA and to the world.
As currently constituted and in its essence,“Zetwal Kreyòl” represents and fulfills all of these ideals, as the group exposes multiple aspects of the Haitian folkloric music, for a vast and diverse audience, with remarkable youth participation.
