ABOUT

We are a lead vocalist/guitarist, bass player and drummer. For the last 11 years, we’ve been doing this:

That band is on hiatus for a while, and we’d like to take this chance to get a new 4-piece cover project going. This will be a fun groove/funk/rock band, with an emphasis on tight ensemble rhythm and groove playing, rather than a lot of individual soloing. Here’s the vibe we’re going for, in three songs:

Some realities about us:

- We’re all in our late 40’s/early 50’s.
- We're all supermodels (see pics).
- We all have wives and families.
- We all have day jobs. We don’t generally give our time away for free, but we’re not trying to pay the bills with the band, either.
- We feel that the music is better when you’re in a band with friends. Sometimes rehearsal is just pizza and beer, and that's ok.
- While this is a “hobby” for us, we try to put our best foot forward always. When folks come out to see us, we want the show to be worth their time.

Our ideal keys player is funky and soulful, and should have a great ear for rhythm, syncopation and texture. Should be able to learn songs quickly and accurately from recordings on your own. Being able to sing some backing vocals would be a plus. And please have your demons under control. We've got no time for drama.

We rehearse once per week in the Lawrence area, and would like to get to 1-2 gigs per month once we get the set built up. Our goal is to be flexible enough to get into the breweries (where the footprint is smaller and the volume is lower), as well as festivals and bigger stages when the opportunity arises. We'd also like to start writing songs again, once we get the band style dialed in.
