ABOUT

Update a/o Feb. 2022 - the drummer position has been filled.

Boston-area 5 piece band looking for a new drummer. If you can also sing harmonies, that would be great. Male, female, whatever...all are welcome.

We are looking for an experienced drummer who is excited about the process of creating, arranging, recording and performing original material. At the same time, you would also need to be comfortable playing cover songs at gigs. Ideally, we are looking for a drummer who "plays for the song" and not just for himself/herself. We like booking gigs where we can play 2 or 3 sets, mixing originals and covers (about a 50/50 mix), but we also can play shorter "showcase" gigs (eg. one 40 minute set) of just original music.

Our original material generally falls into the roots-rock vein (think a mix of Petty, early Wilco, Stones, Jason Isbell, John Hiatt, Jayhawks, Old 97's, etc., etc.) but with a few stylistic curveballs thrown in (power-pop, garage rock, country-rock, surf, soul, R&B and New Orleans style funk). Our covers range from less obvious 60’s British invasion nuggets and 70’s/80's pub rock, to some under-appreciated country-rock and classic rock tunes. Our songwriter sings lead on his original songs, but 4 of us currently split lead vocal duties on the cover songs. In addition to the standard 2 guitars/bass/drums line-up, our newest member is a fantastic multi-instrumentalist who plays mandolin, banjo and/or guitar (depending on the song). We also are starting to incorporate some keyboards into our arrangements and are thinking about adding horns on some songs as well. Overall, we feel our sonic landscape is more interesting and wide-ranging than most bands tilling this same soil.

We’re all experienced players and performers (age 50+) with a good amount of gigging and recording experience under our belts. We released our debut EP of original material this past spring. We were planning to start recording the next batch of original songs this month, but our current drummer unexpectedly had to leave the band (on good terms). We like to gig out about every 6(+/-) weeks. We'd love to have a new drummer on board as soon as possible so we can start recording and gigging again.

We practice once a week in Newton (usually Thursday nights) with a full PA and multi-track recording capability, in a groovy rehearsal and recording space at one of the band member’s house. We're all easy to get along with and we have a lot of fun playing music together. While the vibe is pretty laid back, we're also pretty well organized, with detailed lead sheets for all the songs (tablet friendly) and high quality recordings of all rehearsals available for review.

Feel free to tell us about yourself and what you’re looking for; we’ll provide you with a link to recordings of our original songs as well as a list of some of our current covers. You should have gigging experience, pro equipment and reliable transportation. We are all fully vaccinated and expect you to be vaccinated as well. Looking for someone who has the existing bandwidth to make a weekly practice commitment (usually on Thursday nights).

One last comment - this is not a big money-making opportunity. If you're looking for a busy GB band to make money, this is NOT that kind of band. We're in it to have fun and make good music together. Additionally, we're looking for a full-time member - not a gun for hire. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks in advance.
