Male singer wanted for established working professional cover band:
We are looking for a very talented male singer that loves to sing and perform, and enjoys the camaraderie that comes from being part of a fun band. We strongly prefer you play either guitar or keyboards as well. We've been told numerous times we're one of the best cover bands people have ever heard. That means a lot to us, and hopefully would mean a lot to you too.
To be clear up front, if you need to play out twice a week to pay the bills, we are not the band for you.
Here's some information about us:
We are a professional cover band ranging in age from late 30s to late 50s, together for 13 years. We've performed from New England to Virginia, although 95% of our shows are in NJ or NY. We've done some pretty cool gigs from Jones Beach to Stephen Talkhouse in the Hamptons, to headlining major outdoor festivals in NJ, to corporate events, country clubs, and yacht clubs. Some of our members travel and perform around the world, including opening for Sarah McLachlan last year in Scottsdale AZ.
Our group has 2 lead singers, male (which we are looking to fill) and female, which allows us flexibility to cover any artist. We have an equal balance in our sets: half the songs are sung by our male lead singer, half by our female lead singer. We have harmonies on most songs, so having a good ear is a plus!
We rehearse once a week at my house, and own all the equipment. Aside from when I'm on the road, we rarely miss rehearsals. However, if your work schedule means you can only make twice a month we can work with you. All you need to do is show up at rehearsal on time and prepared. We're a clean-cut group with professional day jobs, that have no illusions of making a living playing music. We do this strictly for the love of music. The band performs some charity shows, so 3-4 events each year are pro-bono. We're a fun group that genuinely likes each other, so please, no egos, attitudes, drama, drugs, or heavy drinking. We don't do the late-night bar scene where you play until 2am for an audience of 8. That's not who we are, and are selective about which new venues we take on. We'll do between 10-15 shows per year, depending on people's schedules and other factors.
Again, if you really need money, we are not the band for you. Some events pay really well, some pay regular, and some are pro-bono. For us its more about the venue and fun-factor than the money.
Every singer has songs they know well, and we're happy to learn your material that would fit at the venues. If you have originals, we're happy to learn some and work them into some of our shows. We do a wide variety (150 songs on the set list) to appeal to a large audience. Here are just some of the bands we do:
The Beatles, Zac Brown, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Cream, Lake Street Drive, Adele, Green Day, Guns n Roses, Bon Jovi, Steppenwolf, Matchbox 20, Free, Jet, the Pretenders, Credence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bonnie Rait, Pink Floyd, The Wonders, Billy Joel, Supertramp, Fleetwood Mac, Black Crowes, Eagles, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, the Monkees, Bad Finger, Grace Potter, Nickleback, Blondie, B52s, Georgia Satellites, Jimmy Buffet, Journey, Cheap Trick, Queen, ZZ Top, The Romantics, Jefferson Airplane, Aerosmith, The Who, ZZ Ward, Edie Brickell, AC/DC, The Clash, Bryan Adams, Del Shannon, Bob Dylan, and more.
We'd love to hear from you, and are happy to answer any questions you may have. To make things easier, PLEASE include some samples of your singing, either as a link to something online or as MP3s. Assuming our group seems like fun, come jam with us in person to see if we are a good fit for each other.
We haven't started auditioning as I’m just back from tour on the west coast on another project. We can speak on the phone if you'd like, and see if it makes sense to come jam with us in person to see if we are a good fit for each other.
