Prometheus was formed in 2007 in Lexington, Kentucky, as a way of surpassing modern mainstream music as it exists today. The Indie-Prog group itself consists of four thoughtful musicians—Ryan Weeks (vocals, guitar, synth/keys), Chris Wheeler (guitar, vocals, sfx, synth), Cole Wade (bass, samplings), and John Hannon (drums)—who insist upon making songwriting an extremely fulfilling and challenging process. The end result is a collection of songs and/or concepts which make the music timeless to both the listener and the players.
Major influences include, but are in no way limited to space travel, world destruction at the hands of man, the evolution of species, the uni/multiverse, polyphony, memes, the natural sciences, and human interaction.
In 2010, Prometheus released their debut EP ‘Into the Bright White Lights’; 6 tracks of genre-bending rock, followed by the People EP at the beginning of 2011. The People EP includes a rerecorded, remixed and remastered approach to 5 tracks from their debut, including a studio take of the title track “People You’ll Meet”. They are currently working on the production of their first full length CD of imaginative and “psychedelic, progressive rock that has earned them a steady following around the region!” The album will include a selection of diverse, complex, and thought provoking songs such as Seven Numbers, When I Tried to Save the World, and Easier Than Taking the Time. The album is to be an auditory voyage through the depths of the human psyche during its varying stages of disturbances, feelings of isolation, paranoia, hope, enlightenment, fear, contempt, and awe.

Easier Than Taking the Time
Easier Than Taking the Time Track number: 4 Year: 2011 Album: People EP Genre: Alternative
Do you recognize me? Feels like I've been here before, In this crumbling collapsed city, Eons after it's fall. Swear I won't hurt you, No not a hair on your pretty little head, So stop running away, My picture perfect marionette.
We Are... Track number: 1 Year: 2011 Album: People EP Genre: Alternative
Yes we are born of the stars, Every last part, Stuttering as we are, Dull as we are. Yes we are born of the gods, Giving their lives for our, Atom by atom, Our cosmic connections. We are born of the stars, Blown away, Stardust. (c) Prometheus, Lyrics (c) Ryan Weeks, www.weareprometheus.com
Life Flourishes Track number: 2 Year: 2011 Album: People EP Genre: Alternative
Now that we've reverted to the earth, Disseminated ourselves for all we're worth, The final curtain falls on this theater of the absurd, Dissipated to heat and converted to dirt. We're so ambitious, we would even kill the king, Acting on poor advice, assuming immortality. There's something beautiful about the universe without me, And nothing scares me more than eternity, An ever widening gap of what is and what should be, The inescapable stares of missed opportunity. I'll be alright, If I never find my head on a pike, A tyrant on display, But if I'm lucky, An oak will grow from me, Sustained by my decay, Sustained by my decay.
