ABOUT
Earthfest is a free to the public grass-roots celebration of healthy living and the outdoors, highlighting our sense of community, community service organizations, and family involvement. We have grown from a few hundred attendees to almost 3,000 attendees.
So, we intend to add music and shuttle buses this year ... but still in our 100% unpowered, slow placed, active participation, outdoor, community-executed format. It will again be hosted at the Connemara Meadow and adjoining Phillips family properties in southwest Allen. There's about a half mile stroll of exhibits along a treed dirt road, nestled in a few hundred acres of unimproved Collin County black gumbo riverbottom. At each organization's exhibit, we require a hands-on participation opportunity. Old favorites will be there (e.g., nature photography lessons, kite flying, canoeing on the pond, guided bird walks, the Raptor Society, critter exhibits, dutch oven chefs, and local health/services/interest groups), as will many new faces. As I said, we intend to make this the biggest and best EarthFest ever. We hope to increase the interactive exhibits by another 10 groups (to 50) and add 10 or more performing artists. We can support up to three fixed positions for performers, but many musicians may choose to wander with the attendees.
