Recent divorce frees me up for musical pursuits... I was an advanced player by my mid twenties moving from blues and rock to jazz. Have done several sit ins, collaborations, backups with bands and musicians in my hometown in California based on my past reputation... however, I have not formed a real band for the last three decades. Upon moving to Texas in 2008 I have not practiced or picked up new skills so I will need to brush up a little... will be glad to work with ex-musicians in the same boat, just so you have enough background that you can get up to speed... I do not see a point in making bad music. My goals are flexible... I will not embarrass myself in public with a bad band... but I will embarrass myself in private

Influences
All of the blues guitarists, from Johnson to Clapton... Dimeola, Chet, Carlos, Joe Pass and anyone who has a lick that I like.
I love loosely structured improvisation... that is the funnest opportunity to improve chops and tighten up the sound of a band. The first several times a song (or jam) is done the band needs to stop, plan, decide on a structure then do whatever it takes to get into a groove that feels and sounds good.

About a dozen medium quality guitars and basses. Need a guitar amp, but have a bass amp... microphones and lots of old accessories.
