I've been playing in church for 33 years. I don't describe myself as a lead player or a rhythm player. I'm a musician who plays guitar. I play what the song/band needs, which usually is a mix of both. My son is a drummer, so if someone needs him, then I've even more interested and committed.

EQUIPMENT
Multiple guitars, from tele to SG to 335, and a Taylor acoustic. Main amp these days is Boss Katana 100. I can go direct if stage volume is an issue or blast it from the amp. Variety of pedals.
