Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Keyboard.

Hi. let me start by saying that I'm a fan of songs. Yes, songs. Those structured morsels of ear candy that take on a life of their own. Whether I'm writing, recording, or performing in live shows, I always find inspiration from the sound waves of a GOOD song. The music uploaded here is not new nor does it define me musically. These songs were created/recorded by 3 Rochester, NY bands I was a member of. These songs are a snapshot of where I've come from...not where I'm heading musically. I'm not ashamed or enamored by them. They just have my fingerprints on them. My name is, Tom McCollough. I am a Drummer, Bassist, Guitarist, Synthy fellow, and I can Sing. I label myself a musician/songwriter and have been a part of the Rochester music scene in some shape or form for many years . Since leaving the local shoegaze/rock band, Oceanside, I've had difficulty networking with local musicians who share similar musical convictions. Our local Band community in Rochester is plagued with division and music snobbery. Don't believe it? Check out craigslist ads. But, somewhere between our borders of testosterone fueled classic rock and sterile cover/party bands, exists a VERY small niche of gigging bands who write and play original music. That is my wheelhouse. And I have come to Bandmix to recruit help.

By nature, I'm artistic, stylish and creative. So it shouldn't surprise you that I would be looking for artistic, stylish and creative musicians. Trendsetters. Believers. People who KNOW how to accentuate their strengths, yet realize their limitations. People who care about song craft , originality, and melody! Is there anyone left out there? I'm forming a stylish pop-electro-clash Rock Band with 4-5 members. I envision it this way; The music/songs must be, melodic, hooky...beaty. Drum and Bass grooves pushing Guitar into a wall of Synth/sequenced sounds. Vocal style must be melodic and lyrics will be smart. Poetic but not precocious. Do you hear it? Our stage presence and aesthetic should be stylish/artistic,fashionable because WE are. Our songs should be 3:30 / 4:00 min. Our demographic audience is between 24-50 and pay money to be entertained. These people have zero tolerance for bad harmonies, mediocre songs , or fretboard wankers. Remember, it's ALL about the quality of our songs!

So coincidentally, my experience includes playing countless local gigs and festivals including CMJ '98 in NYC with the band, In-One. I have recorded in studios as a band member and hired gun tracking for various projects. My Drumming technique leans towards rock/dance beats. What else is there really? I play with attitude. Dynamics. Powerful and Clean. I'm a hybrid player. I use technology with an acoustic drum kit: Click tracks/sequencing/sampling pads/triggers etc etc. Whatever the song requires. I play for the song.

Im hoping some like-minded musician reading this wants to blend musical differences/styles into something fresh and energetic. I'd love to meet some people who want to collaborate and create some memorable melodies and play well for an audience. Let's create a fan base and take back the stage from fat cat Club Managers who continually oppress original Rochester talent. I believe this is possible. Do You? If so, please message me here or contact me at the email address below. If not, I appreciate you reading this far.

Please, drop me a line at immagood2 at yahhwho dot if interested.
