Have learned over time how to make the line fit the song, and usually half as many notes are still twice as many as necessary. Hang factor is crucial. I'm easy going, no drugs, occasional beer. The usual rockers, Zep, Rush, Who, Metallica, Maiden, Yes. Listening to Greg Howe, Vinnie Moore, Jeff Loomis right now. Tastes run from '70's singer/songwriters to instrumental metal. Most comfortable with groove-based rock/blues. Prefer original material, try to stick to "interpretive covers" when possible. I'd rather write it than memorize it.
