Hobby Band - Maybe More (SW Portland)
O.K., so hereâ??s the thing - Iâ??ve done the usual thing and filled out the boxes accordingly, but Iâ??ve finally realized that if I really want to do what I want, Iâ??m going to have to â??cut through the mixâ??. Iâ??m a retired guy (69 yrâ??s young), veteran, USN Vietnam, former art professor, photographer and sublimated rocker, wanting to find a little of that former inspiration from the late 60â??s, and play rock & roll (o.k., blues & folk too) with a few like-minded souls ( I believe youâ??re out there).

Yes, I want to experience the thrill of music again, and I also want to connect with other old rockers (at heart), and who knows, maybe even find a forum for voicing our â??amazement/outrageâ?? at the current state of the world.

I have a small practice space. Iâ??m motivated to finding other oldsters with the spirit to play, connect and share what weâ??ve learned along the way. Yea, I have my challenges, but I also donâ??t want to accept the status quo. I played R&R for a brief time in the 60â??s, then life intervened and now I want to reconnect with music and a few like-minded boomers.

Iâ??m happy to send you a short list of music I dig. Iâ??m open to trying things but donâ??t really care for the â??usualâ??. I want to play/discover music with that spirit and soul that made me love it in my teenâ??s and 20â??s, some tried and true and some new and challenging. The goal isn't solely to perform, rather to become better musicians, have fun and ultimately have a "tight" sound.

Music wise, I enjoy some 60's, 70's rock, folk, blues, as well as newer underappreciated or lesser known music. Everything from Clapton to Kenny Wayne Shepard, Kendra Morris, Decemberists, AC/DC, Paul Weller, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, Dylan, Young, Mayer, Mellencamp and Fogelberg, etc.. I'm always open to discovering new grooves and growing my ear.

If this sounds interesting and you think you'd be a good fit, let me know!
