ABOUT

I want to find like-minded people to develop original metal and rock compositions and possibly form or join a band for gigging. I am an 'old guy' at 65 years, with many years of solitary bedroom jamming practice. It's now time to hook up with a vocalist, drummer, and a guitar player. I am looking for retired professionals like me with a passion for creating music and a desire to put the rubber on the road.

I played the violin in church orchestras (broadcast on live TV) for several years, but I have yet to play my bass in public. I can't wait to do it! I know music theory very well, and I understand the role of bass playing in a group. I tend toward a structured and erudite approach to making music that is grounded in the fundamentals of a genre. I am interested in blues and metal, but not interested in covering the standards. My desire is to be original and unique with the aspiration of performing live.

I want to collaborate with a drummer and lead guitarist who have the same desire as me. I have plenty of time to spare as a recently retired college administrator. I have a PhD in Management, so I would find working with other educated professionals a pleasure. My pursuit in music is to create original art more than the desire to be stage spectacle. But, I do want to play live! If the music my partners and I develop is a hit, then maybe we can work on the packaging of a stage presence. Music first, then the antics!

Being an 'old guy' and wanting to play in the metal genre is anachronistic, I know. Nevertheless, I believe good music stands apart from the image of the players. I want my music to blow away the sight of my long white beard, glasses, and you get the idea. I am not interested in looking like a superannuated rocker-guy. I just want my music to show 'them young'uns " a thing or two.

Using my managerial skills, I would like to develop a counterpart to a business plan in the process of developing original music. With goals and benchmarks, progress can be made. A prefer a balanced collaborative style so the ideas and efforts of each player can synergize to its best output. Thus, dedication and commitment of the players is vital. It would work best for me if the players I seek have about the same level of playing skill and playing experience.

I am open to discussion about my objectives. I am not averse to the benefits of other players experiences and knowledge. I need some place to use what I know and learn something new.
