Love to play all types of music. Started at 8 yrs. taking lessons on just a practice pad with a metronome. Learned all my drum rolls and paradiddles. Then progressed to drum set and continued lessons from a rocker. My first instructor was more into jazz and fundamentals. My last instructor was a rocker who introduced me to the drum set, his band and the opportunity to play with them. He continued to give me lessons until he told me I was on my own. We were near equal skill levels.

Influences
As I was turned out on my own, I believe it was 7th or 8th grade, I would be influenced by a very wide range of genres. My instructor turned me on to Aerosmith, Nazareth, BTO, Black Sabath,etc. I discovered I enjoyed everything from Jackson 5, KC and The Sunshine Band, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Chicago to AC/DC, REO Speedwagon, Styx (when Styx used to rock), Molly Hatchet, The Eagles, The Who and later Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Red Hot Chile Peppers, Kid Rock, Tool, Audioslave, etc. As I have gotten older I also get a great deal of joy playing country. I will sometimes play any song, any genre that comes on the radio. I can improvise and easily follow original material. I love creating original music, having that blank canvas allows me to be creative and go where the music leads me. I can play fast, slow, loud or soft, whatever it calls for. I know how to lay back when need be and to grab the spotlight when it's my turn. As you can see, I just love to play good music with only good musicians.
