ABOUT

Producer-Musician Seeks Vocalist Co-Songwriter (Los Angeles)

At the moment I am particularly interested in European female vocalists & lyric writers for some analog electronic tracks that are nearly complete. Performance can be in English, French, German or any other Western-Euro / Scandinavian language. Female vocalist for Slove is a great example of the ideal vocal style.

ME:

Multi-instrumentalist; primarily guitar but know a little-to-enough bass, drums, keys, synths, etc. I've got a small but high-end production rig and am eager to produce, co-write, perform, mix and master an independent studio album. I work in a technical-creative field and have been around music production for most of my life, even though it isn't my specific career. I have a day job and am not under pressure to "make it".

YOU:

Good and experienced vocalist with some songwriting skills and a modest computer setup at home that you use for practice as well as recording basic scratch tracks and / or demos. You have a great voice as well as a few songs (or parts of them) that you'd love to develop into solidly produced tracks. You don't have a budget to do so, are willing to share a portion of the writer's rights and even eager to collaborate with a like-minded but first-time producer-writer. Even though you are a good vocalist, you may not have much experience performing out. You have a day job and aren't under pressure to "make it".

IDEALLY:

We collaborate online to develop footprints of songs and record vocals for them using my gear in a cheap, hourly studio. I then record any remaining parts, mix the tracks and master them in my home studio. We share writers on anything I co-write instrumental and / or vocal parts for but am otherwise the producer and mixer. There's no time limit, the first step is finishing one track and then we decide whether we both want to continue on with more.

If interested, need to start by hearing your demo. It can be anything from a few songs or few parts of songs recorded solo or with instruments. I prefer original material but can evaluate from covers if need be. Will evaluate in terms of the style of music and your voice to see if it would be a good idea for us to meet for coffee and talk about collaborating.

Influences

This is going to get eclectic because I'm open to many genres: Slove, Zero 7, Ray LaMontagne, Fleetwood Mac, Sam Cooke, Norah Jones, R.L Burnside, New Order, Slove, Booka Shade, Ali Farka Toure, Heartless Bastards, Graffiti 6, David Bowie, Little Feat, Emmylou Harris, Howlin' Wolf, Jerry Lee Lewis, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Ry Cooder, Mazzy Star, Phoenix, The Rascals, Smokey Robinson, Staples Singers, The Wood Brothers and Tom Waits. If your heart is set on anything like the above or a combination therein, I'm fine with it. Definitely *NOT* interested in hard rock, metal, rap or mass marketed pop / R&B / modern country.

EQUIPMENT

Lots of studio-grade, analog recording / mixing / dynamics gear, guitars, e-drums, bass, percussion, analog synths, mics, analog pedals, outboard gear, etc.
