My dad was a jazz guitar player and all my brothers play music, so I've been around music all my life. I have a degree in Music composition. I have played in many gigging bands both as a drummer and bass player since the 90s. I also have my own recording studio and have recorded many bands as well as have recorded in professional studios.

For the past 8 years, I played in a funk horn band called Grateful Red (See GratefulRedBand on ). You can also see some of our videos on be: s://./channel/UCPRDzCAO9PixWLubV2Ybrow.

The band disbanded during Covid and most likely will not get back together.

The bands I have gigged with have been rock, pop or blues bands playing covers, although I was in a few bands in the 90's that did originals. I have also played in several jazz bands playing jazz standards out of the real book.

I am an accomplished drummer and bass player and can play a full gig on drums as well as bass. I can sing as well as have good control over my falsetto so I can do high harmonies.

I call myself a groove player. I am not a showy player or a flashy player. I generally do not like to play solos or get overly elaborate on drums or bass. I do not like the spotlight on myself. Instead I like to lay down a solid groove so that the vocalists or guitarists - whoever is featured on the song - can feel comfortable in the spotlight. I pride myself on locking with the drummer (and since I can play both I am very good at it) to provide a solid foundation for the rest of the band.

I can sing and have sang lead on songs, but see myself more as a background or harmony vocalist. When I am drumming I prefer not to sing, but I can if needed.

Although getting paid is nice, money is not my main motivation for playing. I have a full time job so I am just looking to play for fun. I would love to find a group of accomplished musicians that enjoy playing but also have families and lives and can not commit to the demands of a weekly gigging band. I'm not a fan of playing in bars until 2 am. I am willing to do it occasionally when needed but only as an exception.

I am mainly looking for a band that plays out once or twice a month and practices every other week max (if everyone learns their parts on their own, you generally don't need to practice as often, so commitment is a must).

With our funk horn band, our sweet spot was fundraisers, private parties, county fairs, the state fair, Lake Harriet, St Paul Winter Carnival, Aquatenniel, National Night Out, and other gigs that don't pay well but have a guaranteed audience and you don't have to play until 1 AM.

I am committed and once I find a group I like, I am loyal and dependable. I always practice my parts. I always show up for practices and gigs. I also help with hauling equipment, set up etc. I have also run sound for bands in the past so I can help set up PA, lights are other equipment if needed.

I don't think I need to list everything, right? I've played thousands of gigs in my career. Just know that I have pro gear and reliable transportation. If I need something specific for a gig, I'll go get it.
