ABOUT

I am a vocalist who took up guitar so that I could play on my own, but I love playing with others with a passion and love for music. I have been in two bands and we even recorded some originals with the latter band. My guitar skill is modest but my vocals are solid. I am looking for jamming partners with good chops who are interested in playing for the thrill of music and the occasional live gig (1-2 gigs per month?). I love a diversity of musical genres that tend to the less mainstream, but of course that means almost nothing today. This includes punk (Clash, Jam, Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks), Ska (Specials, English Beat), Reggae (Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse), new wave/early alternative (Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Pretenders, The Pogues, Stone Roses, Waterboys), some classic rock (Pink Floyd, Queen, Beatles, Bowie), 90's alternative (Soundgarden, Jeff Buckley, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Radiohead), current alternative (Foo Fighters, Mona, Band of Horses, Kings of Leon, Foxy Shazam, Arcade Fire), folk/acoustic (Lucinda Williams, Tallest Man on Earth, Ray Lamontagne), and neo soul (Michael Kiwanuka, Alabama Shakes, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Hozier, Amy Winehouse). If I were marooned on a tropical island, I would want the following albums: Jeff Buckley: Grace; The Clash: London Calling; Smashing Pumpkins: Siamese Dream; Michael Kiwanuka: Love & Hate; Alabama Shakes: Boys & Girls, Amy Winehouse: Back to Black; Stevie Ray Vaughn: Sky is Crying; Jimmy Cliff: The Harder They Come soundtrack; Hozier (self-titled); Waterboys: This is the Sea.
