ABOUT

I started my musical journey back in 2000-2001 in Salvador, Brazil. I was part of a youth music education program at the Oficina de Frevos e Dobrados, a school located in the historic Pelourinho neighborhood. Under the mentorship of Maestro Fred Dantas, I learned music theory and trombone, and I had the privilege of performing with the Filarmônica Jovem do Centro Histórico. During that time, I also worked as a roadie for the Orquestra Fred Dantas.

Before diving into formal training, I was already involved in the underground rock scene in Salvador, playing gigs in various venues across the city. Later on, I paused my musical pursuits to focus on my education in technology, telecommunications, and electrical engineering.

In 2012, everything shifted for me when I gave my life to Christ at Bola de Neve Church in Salvador. By 2014, I felt called to use my musical gifts in ministry and became a bassist in a new ministry planted in Cajazeiras, Salvador. Since then, music has been a big part of my life again. It’s where my passion meets my faith, allowing me to create meaningful experiences for others and myself through worship and music.

Influences

My musical influences come from a wide range of styles, shaped by my journey through both Brazilian and international music. Starting in Salvador, Brazil, I was deeply impacted by frevo and Brazilian instrumental music, thanks to my time studying under Maestro Fred Dantas at the Oficina de Frevos e Dobrados. That experience introduced me to the richness of orchestral arrangements and the vibrant rhythms of Brazilian culture.

Before that, I was immersed in the underground rock scene of Salvador. I grew up inspired by rock legends, both Brazilian and international, with bands like Legião Urbana, Titãs, Metallica, and Nirvana fueling my passion for music.

After my conversion to Christ in 2012, Christian music became a central part of my life. I draw a lot of inspiration from gospel and worship artists, including Hillsong Worship, Casting Crowns, and Brazilian names like Fernandinho and Aline Barros.

As a bassist, I’ve always admired musicians who take the instrument to the next level. Influences like Victor Wooten and Marcus Miller have inspired me to experiment and grow technically, even as I use my skills to serve in ministry.

Finally, living in Salvador gave me a connection to Música Popular Brasileira (MPB), with artists like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil leaving their mark on my musical identity. And as I’ve grown in my faith, I’ve found new inspiration in modern worship music from Bethel Music, Elevation Worship, and others, blending the power of worship with rock and contemporary
