Band to Join, Lead Guitar, Other Percussion, Violin, Mandolin.ABOUT
I'm looking for musicians for an upcoming dance project in Washington Square Park on August 21st.
--- WE NEED ---
GUITAR: Proficient guitarist able to both fingerpick and flatpick. Classical experience a plus. Good sense of rhythm and ability to lead the rest of the band.
MANDOLIN: Fast picking and a solid tremolo necessary. It doesn't have to be the musician's primary instrument - a musician who is primarily a guitar player but is familiar with the mandolin would work.
VIOLIN: ability to switch quickly between plucking and bowing required.
PERCUSSION: Box drum. Lots of syncopation and tempo shifting.
--- ABOUT LUNATIC ---
Lunatic is an original dance piece that tells the story of the triad of the moon and celebrates the connection between women and that celestial body.
Phase 1: A short workshop in August culminating in at least one (we're working on getting others) performance in Washington Square Park during the full moon. This is a pretty small commitment. Two weeks of more concentrated rehearsal and then the performances and the filming. What is the filming you ask? This leads me to phase 2.
Phase 2: After filming the August workshop, we are going to shop the piece around and try and get it into a developmental theater space in the spring.
