Sabbatic Rites is a Metal band whose roots began in 2006 after the demise of the "Horror Punk" band Lord of the Maggots (L.O.T.M.). That project dissipated as the writing and playing style of co-founder/guitarist, Nick C, was evolving and changing directions. He, and two of the members, Sal Blackstone and Ari Edwards, started jamming in a basement and made new material with Ari on bass and Sal on drums. Eventually Sal took on vocals while the band recruited drummer JC. This was the first incarnation of Sabbatic Rites. The style was on the Prog Rock side with 10-minute songs, etc. They began recording a 4-song demo, which due to complications, was never completed (it remains in suspension until it's revisited. For now, what's left of it can be heard on /sabbaticrites). Because of these complications, the members felt the need to move on to other projects, and this band fell into an abyss. The members recorded and played shows in other projects. In late 2013, after "fate" brought Nick into crossing paths with drummer Brandon Wick, who seemed to be a fitting member for a revival of Sabbatic Rites. Nick and Sal felt an extra element was needed, such as a keyboard-player or second guitarist. They recruited guitarist Tony Cifuentes. Shortly after reforming with a new line-up and new material, they recorded a new 4-song demo. This time the style had changed. The songs were shorter, faster and more aggressive. The sound has been described as old-school Thrash Metal with a unique twist, or "epic Thrash", or "Thrash Power-Metal", etc. But of course, the listeners will decide. Just as the new recording was being completed, a new complication emerged. Brandon had to move to a location the band didn't think was a practical distance, and are in search of a replacement again. Yet, the journey continues...
