Vocalist - Tenor, Vocalist - Soprano, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Keyboard.

I updated this posting in February 2020.

Hello classic rock cover musicians! We are an accomplished bassist and drummer with many years of experience looking to put together a tight, well-seasoned classic rock cover band with *skilled* musicians with a high level of musicianship to perform melodic, energetic classic rock that has interesting composition to it. Please note that we are -NOT- looking to play the usual bar band material such as Petty, Skynyrd, Foreigner, Seger, Bad Company, Stones, Clapton, Steve Miller, 38 Special, Bryan Adams, ZZ Top, Tommy Tutone, big-hair 80's, blues, country, or metal. There are already plenty of very cool bands out there that play that material, so the public's need for that material is already thoroughly covered. We are seeking musicians who would like to perform music such as Styx, Queen, Heart, Rush, Yes, Journey, Boston, Zep, Eagles, Supertramp, etc. If that's the kind of music you would like to perform, then this project just might interest you.

The goal of this project will be to gig occasionally at special events, festivals, etc. in the greater Sacramento area. We seek musicians who have a love for playing the music as close to the original recordings as possible. Not all musicians enjoy doing that kind of thing, so this project will only be attractive for those who really enjoy spending time with the original recordings learning the material on their own by themselves, and then get together for group rehearsal already knowing their parts.

Please note that we are not looking to just get together and "jam." We are also not seeking to play any "originals." This is strictly a 100% cover band project.

As the bassist, one of the bands I played in was a Yes tribute band. I put that project together about 20 years ago and that band lasted quite a few years. We played mostly their 70's material such as the entire Close to the Edge album and stuff off of Fragile and The Yes Album. We played that material just like the original recordings and we received great crowd response. And most importantly, we had alot of fun! But for this new band, we are not looking to do a Yes tribute. The drummer and I are looking to put together a band that plays classic rock cover songs by various groups that audiences will easily recognize due to their familiarity with the songs. We put together a list of songs below (in no particular order) that we are looking at playing. Please take a look at the list and let us know if you would have any interest in playing this stuff.

The drummer and I are seeking:

>Two or three vocalists in the tenor/soprano range
>Two guitarists - each who can play both lead and rhythm
>One keyboardist

Having multiple vocalists will allow for multi-part harmonies. Also, since different vocalists have different ranges, having multiple vocalists will allow us to cover a wider range of songs.

We seek folks with patience as the search for the right people for this project will take some time. It took two years to find the right people for the Yes tribute band, but that project was very specialized. We don't expect it to take nearly that long for this new project, but it will certainly take some time.

After the list of songs posted below, you will find some links to video samples showing a few songs by the original artists to give you an idea of what we are looking to do with this band.

Since this band will focus primarily on performing "melodic" classic rock, the name of our band will be "Melodic Edge". We have already registered that name with the Worldwide Band Name Registry and paid the fee for the exclusive legal right to that band name.

For this band project, neither your age nor your gender matter. What matters is having a love for performing this type of material on stage, and an ability to perform the songs as close to the original recordings as possible.

If you decide to reply, please include your direct email address in your message. Please include information about yourself such as your experience performing in bands and the type of music you played. Also, please indicate if you have played any of the songs listed above, and if so, which ones. And of course, if you happen to have any video links or recordings of you performing, please include those as well. Thank you!
