Bassist with solid day gig looking for an opportunity for paying gigs with an established band on the weekends, maybe a few weeknights. Full-time member, fill in/sub gigs, I'm open.
I'm a 50 year old player with nearly 35 years experience on the instrument. I'm not a standard notation reader but I've got great big ears, a rock-solid groove and have a decent grasp of theory and harmony as it relates to my chosen instrument. I can navigate chord charts and understand the Nashville # system. I've played with a number of bands over the years in styles as diverse as Reggae, Rock/Metal, Trop Rock, Country, Singer/Songwriter Pop and Jam/Improvisational music. I'm also well-versed in R&B/Soul, Funk, Jazz (some standards but I have more of a fusion background) and Blues. Thanks to a lifetime of studying many outstanding influences, I'm just as comfortable going from Motown-style support to Wooten/Sheehan-style pyrotechnics and everything in between. I'm equally adept with fingerstyle, pick or slapping, whatever the song calls for. I suppose my greatest assets are being a quick study, providing a solid, swinging groove (no matter the context), complementary note choices, strong old-school work ethic and the all-important "hang factor".
If any of this sounds like something you need, I might be the droid you're looking for.
(My music samples are some improv recordings I did a few years back with a drummer friend, for reference.)
