ABOUT

I'd like to meet a few good people to jam and experiment and write with, do collabs/covers, and regularly do open mics, or help others with recording vocals for existing projects, whether acoustic or electronic. If it felt like something worthwhile, I could do something more serious, but I'll be straightforward that I don't have a ton of time to commit.

My strength is vocals. I'm limited to acoustic rhythm guitar for accompaniment in performance experience, including 12 performances of a show bringing 60s/70s music to a play about Vietnam, and a month of 10-12 hour/week rehearsals leading up to that. Other than that, its open mics, 3-song sets for a closed mic, busking, songwriting groups, and a good bit of college music course recitals (not a major study though).

I've written 10/+ songs, so still working that out, but I have a good ear for melodies and try to say things in a way that is honest, and sticks...and isn't a cliche. I did once rick roll myself in a chorus melody.

Influences

A lot of current indie folk: Jon Foreman, Amos Lee, Greg Laswell, Iron & Wine, Jose Gonzales, Regina Spektor, Rhett Miller, Zee Avi. I like their songwriting styles lyrically and musically.

I grew up on oldies and motown radio. Love it. Disney, too, if I'm honest there.

The Kills. James Blake, Chet Faker, and Radiohead, some glitch and chillwave. Smashing Pumpkins. U2 and Switchfoot. Plenty of current alt. rock, pop and R&B, too. I love singing the belts and the runs as much as the next girl.

EQUIPMENT

Guitars: acoustic, acoustic-electric, a beat-up electric, 12-string
Sound: old 3-foot base amp, a 1-foot amp, mic and stand
Also: a full weighted keyboard and a small midi controller/keyboard
Other:Xylophone, cajon, clav sticks.

My fiancee has a dynamic and cardiod mic, along with a few more keyboards and guitars, guitar pedals, a looper and a kaoss pad, which I can borrow, but would probably be just for me to use.
