With Sawtooth Barbarian I start with influences in Darkwave and Industrial music and combine use of modular synthesizers with field recordings and metal guitars. I sing in English and German. I would like to eventually add other languages to the mix, of particular interest are French or any Celtic, Slavic or Scandinavian language. I often set the song to a base air that I've recorded in remote nature settings such as Death Valley or Denali Alaska or one of many locations in the PNW. Sound design is an integral approach to what I do and I use techniques learned designing sound effects for video games as well as more traditional music recording methods learned from my earlier years working as an engineer at a recording studio in North Carolina.
