ABOUT

ScatterGrass is a well established Band that has been going down a solid path for many years, to shape its own sound. We also stroll over many Genres to find Covers to bring back memories to our audience and entertain them in a fresh sound.

But what ScatterGrass is most proud of is its Originals that seem to stand out as much or more than the wide range of Covers they are constantly bringing into their shows. As much as the way the songs were written, the one thing of importance is all the Artists that have been a part of our unique sound over the years. They have creatively added their individual talents and that has been a big part of ScatterGrass.

ScatterGrass is looking for solid players with the right confidence, not ego, and the ability to be comfortable and creative in this project. We want them to find their place as a band member by knowing their strengths and weaknesses and not be afraid to show it.

We understand how much this may be a challenge to some, we want you to know there’s plenty of room and time to learn what we’re about and the music.

Paul Briggs, founder of the band (Acoustic Guitar and Lead Vocals), lays out the ever growing vision of his and other life experiences. Paul’s inspirations are also fueled by fire in the belly and musicians that work with the band who have the desire to create. Understanding one's strengths and weaknesses is so important to learn and grow alongside each other, which is heard in the music.

Tom Whyte, (Bass Guitar and Harmonies) enhances the vision with the band, spanning for more than 11 years, just as his focus and determination to get it right dynamically shows through his solid bass playing experience and vocals. His desire for the love of this band lies in the sounds and his willingness to continue to create and grow as a musician. He has a passion to learn and the desire to help with challenges. Tom is the glue for the band.

Joe Garcia (Banjo, Mandolin, Harmonies) has a distinctive unique style as a banjo player. He has created an infectious Latin flavor with his banjo on certain songs. Yet, he blends that style with traditional Bluegrass which certainly makes him an original player. His mandolin parallels his banjo in his approach with a distinctive sound that rings the bell in both traditional and contemporary play. His high harmony soulfully completes the band’s sound.

Lead Acoustic/Electric Guitar Player with harmonies

Anyone with mandolin, dobro, pedal steel, and fiddle experience is welcomed.
