I've been playing music since I joined the school band at 9 on trumpet. I come from a musical family, and learned to play sax. I got pretty good on trumpet, but I started bouncing around started playing low brass. I got a guitar and a bass at 13. Having taught myself bass clef, I joined the jazz band in high school. Around the same time, I started my first band. Played parties, recorded a demo in a studio. Started playing in bars, with bands, and sitting in during open jams. To keep up my reading chops, I started playing bass in pit orchestras for local theater groups. I've pretty much been playing consecutively for the last 35 years or so.
