ABOUT

I'm a solid and creative bassist looking for an original rock band in Omaha. I've been playing bass for about 17 years. I have been in a few pretty good and well-known bands in Omaha (Kill Bosby, The Brit House Band, Edge of Arbor, OK Hemingway) and there are plenty of recordings and even a video or two of me playing bass floating around out there on the internet. I'm a pretty good bass player. I expect you to be pretty good at what you do. I do not sing, though I wish I could. I enjoy collaborative songwriting. I like interesting chord changes that allow me the freedom to write cool bass parts, but I try to craft my part to fit the song and not stomp all over the melody. I'm not really interested in metal or anything too dark and depressing. I want to find a fun, groovy rock band with pop sensibilities. I also enjoy funk, blues, jazz, indie, a little alt-country, a little punk, but ultimately I'm a rock guy.

I'm not really interested in being in a cover band - unless it involves the not-quite-as-overplayed-but-still-somewhat-popular-covers. You know, the songs that musicians can play without wanting to shoot themselves, but that still make people want to dance? Yeah, sadly, that type of cover band doesn't really exist. But if it did, I would consider it - if it paid well. That being said, I'm all about original bands doing a cover here or there - particularly if it involves putting a new spin on a tired-out song.

I have adult responsibilities, but plenty of time for music if I find the right group of people with the right mindset. I'm very serious about music for music's sake. Money is nice, but not essential as I already a job and some pretty awesome gear. I'm not looking to quit my job and tour the Earth. But I'm not opposed to an out-of-town gig or a thoughtfully and logistically-possible tour as long as it doesn't require me to quit my job or divorce my wife :)

So if you're looking for a good bass player, send me a link or some samples of your music, and I'll return the favor.
