ABOUT

Shannon Kealey Band plays original songs that are more like short stories set to folk-rock with hints of country/bluegrass, blues, and jazz. We have one that's actually kinda funky. We're open to other musical styles as well. We rehearse every other Sunday afternoon at my home in Fremont or at our lead guitarist's home studio in San Jose.

We're seeking a strings player (cello and/or violin) and a drummer.

If you also sing/write, awesome! I'm totally open to collaborating with another songwriter and switching off lead and harmony vocals.

We also play a few covers:
Angel from Montgomery by John Prine, Knockin' on Heaven's Door by Bob Dylan, Fall at Your Feet by Crowded House, Making Pies by Patty Griffin, Say Something by A Great Big World, and Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac.

Here is a link to a page with some videos of our performances (though with a different lineup from our current one): ://.shannonkealey/shannon-kealey-band

Influences

Everything from Joni Mitchell / Patty Griffin / Gillian Welch to Aimee Mann and Cat Power, to Ben Harper to Fleet Foxes to Depeche Mode and Concrete Blonde (ah, middle school). I love the Swedish psychedelic rock band Dungen. I totally dig Sia and Grizzly Bear. Bach to Boingo, I say! Mozart to...well, not so much Metallica...perhaps--nostalgically--Madonna...definitely Michael Penn.
