As a highschool student, Shon cornered the restaurant and winery gig market around California's wine country, playing styles ranging from jazz and funk, to country and blues. In the summer of 2004, he attended the Berklee in LA program and was awarded with a yearly scholarship of $10,000. In 2005, He received an award for best jazz soloist at the Hayward Jazz Festival presented by Bennett Friedman.
Since moving to Boston in 2005, Shon has played with an array of very talented musicians and bands including multiple artists from shows like The Voice and American Idol including Brittany Butler, Nicole Nelson, Josh Logan, Erika Van Pelt and Jillian Jensen. He's also played alongside top industry musicians such as Elliot Lewis (Hall & Oates), Daniel Platzman (Imagine Dragons), Neal Evans (Dopapod), Lindsay Lucas (Lettuce), and Mike Tucker (Arturo Sandoval) to name a few.
Shon graduated Berklee College of Music in 2010 with high honors. Walter Beasley, a Berklee professor and active smooth jazz performer, stated that "his professional attitude coupled with his outstanding abilities as a bassist and musician creates a well-rounded and exceptional musician," continuing that he "had the pleasure to work with Shon for a semester and had noticed not only his musicality and groove, but also his insights and contributions to this ensemble." He has played countless shows all over New England at bars with 6 people to events with over 6,000 people.
