ABOUT

Signs and Sirens started as a 3 piece band in mid 2003. Mark Jacks
(guitars) Sonic (drums) and Jorge Torres (bass tones, singing, and song
writing) They were originally called Euphoria then moved on to having a
few other names throughout the years like An Octave Below and Sputnik
Cycles. They started off playing Deftones covers for around a year, then
in 2004 they wrote there first song "Unanswered Questions". After
writing there first six songs they started playing shows at Chain
Reaction in Anaheim, California. They also recorded there first 3 song
demo. As time went on the band begun to explore with different sounds
and brought a female vocalist into the mix (Carmen) to change things up
a bit. Carmen has a great voice and is an amazing song writer so her
addition soon paid off! In 2006 the band continued writing and playing
shows here and there. Soon thereafter they decided to add a second
guitarist, Arturo Ibarra. Art had a very hendrix inspired style and
added a different feel to the music. The band immediately hit the studio
(Satelite Park in Malibu, CA) and recorded a 5 song EP called The
Morning After Rain. At the same time, Mark left the band so Jorge and
Art had to record his guitar parts on the EP. (You can listen to it at
/signsandsirens) Time went on and 2007 rolled around along
with a new rhythm guitarist named Doug. Things were going smoothly for
the band, from spring 07 to early 2008. They played many shows at the
Whisky a go-go in hollywood along with some smaller venues around there
local West Covina area but in spring 2008 the band fell apart. Art up
and quit and decided he was done being in a band while Doug wanted to
get married and had to move to oregon. This left Jorge with a simple
decision, keep on pushing or calling it quits. Jorge called up Mark who
had left the band mid 06. He asked him if he would be interested in
getting back into it. Surely Mark came back and the original band was
back together. They played the Whisky 4th of July in 08 and other venues
around the LA area like the Dragonfly, The Terrace, and The Palms Bar.
In early 09, the band decided to spend a lot of time writing totally new
material so week in and week out they wrote. They wrote for a whole year
and in March 2010 began to record a 6 track home studio EP titled "One
Nation Under Educated" that is currently being mixed and will be
available on the bands soon.
