Everything I teach and blog about is based on my real life experiences as a voice coach, r&b artist, entrepreneur, podcast host, songwriter, BMI publisher, and artist manager. I know a lot because I've done a lot. When I hear music I'm usually drawn to the drums, the bass, and a great melody. I can't write lyrics to it if I'm not feeling it. I like trap beats LOL. In recent years I've found more joy in helping other artists of all levels. I'm a voice and performance coach. I no-longer perform live. I prefer working behind the scenes. I have too many influences to mention. Many of the vocal techniques I create are inspired by award-winning music artists. For example in a belting exercise, I may refer to the belting Queens, Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin. For runs/riffs I may refer to Brian McKnight or Tori Kelly, for breathy tones I may refer to Mariah Carey and I'd refer to Beyonce for her vocal and physical endurance both on and off stage....I adore Missy Elliot and Bruno Mars for their creativity.

EQUIPMENT

Without being too specific about my equipment, my home studio is spacious enough for a singer to rehearse their performance, vocal/dance choreography and audience engagement at the mic-stand and with a few mirrors to see what their audience will see. It's enough room for seating at a mini Karaoke event, which I host from time to time. I have mics and a decent sound system. I also use studio mics and recording software for recording projects such as before and afters of my clients, voice-overs, jingles, songwriting or whatever I'm working on. I have 3 separate music rooms and I use MAC. I'll be working with semi-private singing groups and front line vocalists this year and I can accommodate about 4 members per session.
