Sitka is an Oregon band that has been playing together about 3 years.
Do you play moderate to advanced acoustic guitar in a folk rock style? Do you sing leads and harmonies with the ability to blend? Are you relaxed onstage and able to play without posing or being artificially "on?" Are you liberal, old as dirt, available to practice and play out, and mostly enjoying life? Do you live near Lincoln City? Are you happy to not be playing bars? Maybe you'd be a great addition to Sitka! Contact us at Gray at Sitkaband dot org.
Sitka actively plays shows in the mid Willamette Valley and along the central coast. Repertoire includes a growing collection of original tunes and several sets of cover tunes done acoustically and/or electrically. We enjoy a good blues jam any time but don't aim to be a blues band.
Our goal is to be creative in a low-stress, fun environment. We play music that we enjoy from any era or genre and have developed our own unique sound that is easily listenable and compelling. Eventually we will play primarily original music with select covers done in our style. We are not attracted to playing the bar scene and late night gigs. We enjoy playing pleasant sociable gatherings from cafes and wineries to fairs, festivals, and weddings. Our music is intended to be fun to listen to. We aren't striving to be a dance band and we also aren't motivated by finances though we're not giving our work away. In the near future we see ourselves playing up to several times a month.
We practice 4 - 5 hours at least once a week. That increases to two or three times per week in preparation for gigs. We have a secluded and fully equipped rehearsal and recording space near Lincoln City where most of our work is done. We’re all about having fun in rehearsals but taking the work seriously and staying focused.
On stage Sitka strives to achieve a relaxed performance style with strong non-verbal communication and eye contact among band members, a good sense of humor and wit, and no glitz, glam or posing.

Members Of Band
Current members include Marshall (64) guitar, Mike on bass and vocals (age 60), Gray (64) on percussion, vocals, and guitar, and Scott (68) drums and percussion and vocals.
We have worked with many guitarists who are all wonderful musicians and good people but none of these arrangements have been long term due to differences in goals, expectations or schedules. We’re pretty progressive people so if you’re a Trump supporter you won’t be comfortable around us. We don’t play “Christian Music” because at least one of our members doesn’t think it is either of those things.
Sitka uses an 18 channel wi-fi operated mixer with full onboard effects and EQ running through high quality Bose powered speakers. We use wireless mics and wireless in-ear monitors. Sitka has sufficient gear, and the right gear, for playing both intimate coffee shop gigs as well as larger outdoor / auditorium gigs. When possible we run all instruments directly through the mixer with limited on-stage amplification. The mixer also provides 16 discrete channels for recording. We use several Gibson, Fender, Yamaha, Rickenbacher, Carvin, and other top of the line guitars, Ludwig and other quality drums and more.
