ABOUT

As a young musician, I quickly found 2 problems with every company I recorded with. First and foremost, the prices were outrageous! Granted, recording/mixing/mastering took a lot of work, but I was paying my entire life's savings to record one 3 and a 1/2 minute song. It was ridiculous, but I couldn't do anything about it. I knew that recording was a big step, and it had to be done.

The second problem I noticed was that no matter what vision I had for the song, my engineer seemed to do whatever he wanted with it. The mixing/editing stage didn't involve me at all. Rather than attempting to capture my vision, the engineers did whatever they wanted and left me in the dust. It became a matter of trying to finish as quickly as possible.

In short, I felt ripped off. So I came up with a solution. I put everyting I had (both time and money) into learning how to record, mix, master, etc. And I did. I teamed up with two of my very talented friends, Rodrigo Villalba and Justin Chandler, and we created Skylight Studios: The solution to both the problems.

Solution Number One: We provide professional sound for an unbeatable price. While most studios only have an outrageous hourly rate, Skylight Studios accepts many different methods of payment. We offer musicians the following options:

-$50/song (or $20/hour (not including set up/mixing time. This refers strictly to actual recording time).
-$200 for a 5 song CD.
-$400 for a 12+ song CD.

We also provide services to help you copyright, promote and sell your music on iTunes, Amazon, Music, and more. Prices may vary.

The cheapest I have personally seen offered elsewhere was $35 an hour (although most studios charge an average of $50/hour), or a "limited time" bundle that included 4 songs (with only 3-4 hours of mixing time) for $450.

Solution Number Two: We will not change your music. We will also never use your music to make personal gain, aside from the use of advertisement for the studio. You keep all the rights to the music that you wrote. We listen, we record, and we try our best to help you catch your own vision.

The fact is, recording is a stepping stone for any musician. Recording is going to take time and money. But as musicians, we have been there and we started Skylight Studios to make it easier for you. We are here to bring your music to life.
