ABOUT

I am a drummer looking to start two types of bands:

I. I am interested in starting an Afrobeat/funk/soul/groove band. For this group it would be nice to have at least a couple of horn players if not more. Especially anyone who plays sax, trumpet, trombone. I would also need a bass and an electric guitar player. Keys would be a plus, and we can always add percussionists to round out the rhythm. A lot of my influences have come from those awesome musicians at Daptones Records and bands like Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Budos Band, Antibalas, Fela Kuti, and of course the Godfather, James Brown. Nothing real complicated, I just feel that if we layer some interesting grooves that we could really make some good music.

II. The other band I would like to start would be something more simple, I would need a bass, guitars, and possibly keys. It would be fun to play some disco punk funk for people who like bands like Fugazi, The Strokes, Electric Six.

Looking to practice at least twice a week, and I have a place where we can practice. We can start to put some grooves together and see what happens as we add musicians to the mix.

Send me an e-mail
nicholaswjacobs.c o m with "Musician" in the subject box
and we'll start piecing a band together. They blocked the ahooya.omca (pig latin) in this description box, so thats why the e-mail address has spaces after the symbol. Freakin bandmix, I'm not spending $10 a month for a glorified e-mail account.
