ABOUT

Slow Lane plays a mix of original music and covers such as Tom Petty, Oasis, The Byrds, Psychedelic Furs, etc. We are an experienced foursome consisting of drums, bass and two guitars plus vocals. About a third of our repertoire are original songs penned by Phil Keat (formerly of the Wofford-Keat Band) whose music has been covered over the years by Country Comfort, The Peter Moon Band, The Kingston Trio, George Street, John Feary, Konishki, 11th Hour, and others.
Band leader Phil Keat is a singer/songwriter with a number of local successes the best known of which is the Hoku nominated single Cheri a cover of which was made famous by the Peter Moon Band. Having made a local mark in the 70s and 80s, the Wofford~Keat band was a material element of the era of Contemporary Hawaiian music that heralded the rising wave of pride in the Native Hawaiian legacy.
Today Slow Lane plays more rock n’ roll with a sound akin to Tom Petty's Heartbreakers. Most of Slow Lane's repertoire are interpretations of popular covers fleshed out with some of Keat's songs including a number of new ones. Keat feels fortunate to have a great band. While they play for the love of it, they like to share their music on occasion with an appreciative audience.
